What are diabetic socks?

What exactly are diabetic socks, what does that mean? How do they work, and do I really need them if I am a diabetic?

As many of you may know one of the main symptoms of diabetes is poor blood circulation. To understand how diabetic socks help, first you have know why normal socks, may not be so good for you. One of the general staples of a normal sock is the elastic band on top, the band is there to hold the sock up and with out it, the sock will slip off. So how then can you get a diabetic socks with out the band and have it hold? Diabetic socks, may still have elastic on top but rather than a big thick elastic band on top, they may distribute the band to a longer portion of the socks, meaning you wont have 1 tight band but instead a series of looser elastic strands in order to not restrict the circulation an example of that can be found 100% cotton diabetic socks.
Those are 100% cotton socks, but the sock is 100% cotton from toe to the upper rim of the socks, is it important to point out that elastic is needed in any sock in order for the sock to stay up, this is not a non elastic sock, this is a sock constructed with 100% cotton from toe to rim.

In reality this sock and any other socks that is labeled 100% cotton has between 3 -5% elastic on top needed to hold the sock in place. All socks have elastic up in the rim but they also contain 20-25% of nylon reinforcement through out the sock for durability.

Vannucci 100% cotton socks forgoes the reinforcement of the sock making it a truly 100% cotton sock from toe to rim, thin elastic band on top to hold the sock in place.

So weather your looking for thin dress socks or crew socks that are 100% cotton we at SockBroker.Com have what you need.

I would go with the thin just because the thick would make your foot suet a lot more than the thin and also because with the thin ones your feet are able to get air a lot better.
