100% Cotton socks

It has come to my attention by some of my customers that finding
100% cotton socks has become
harder and harder in the past 2 years. In this post I will answer the question
of why that has happened. In 2004 the U.S. government placed a quota on all
cotton goods coming to the united states, particularly from china, this was due
to the large number of sock mills that were closing in the united states the
socks mills were virtually gone, so the quota was thought to help the sinking
U.S. hosiery business. The problem with the quota was that companies like
Wal-Mart would meet the quota with in the first 3 months of the year and that
left other companies trying to find cotton from else where, such as Pakistan,
India, Malaysia, how ever those countries are not set up to take on the vast
demands of the trade, and the quality of products made there were very poor. As
a result many companies gave up on producing
100% cotton socks. It use to
be just labor intensified but now its hard to find the all cotton. Remember that
socks are knitted by machines now, and when you have 100% cotton strand being
woven the strands tend to break alot more due to the lack of elasticity because
there is no nylon in the fibers so as a result it is more labor intensified to
make100% cotton socks,
Fortunately I have a big following on my site for
100% cotton socks , so we have
continued to carry a large selection of them. We have dress and crew socks that
are all 100% cotton and nothing less. Hope you have gained a little insight on
the world of socks.
